The Los Pumas side to face Scotland in Córdoba
- 977
The Nations Championship gets underway this weekend, and Los Pumas have confirmed their lineup to host Scotland at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Córdoba on Saturday, 4 July, at 4:00 pm. It will be the first of three matches Felipe Contepomi's side will play in July as part of the new international competition. They will then host Wales in San Juan on 11 July before facing England in Santiago del Estero on 18 July.
The Pumas meet Scotland again after last November's international window, when the national side fought back from 21-0 down to secure a memorable 33-24 victory at the iconic Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. The two teams have met 26 times, with each side claiming 13 victories. Their last meeting in Argentina came in 2022, when Los Pumas won the three-Test series 2-1, triumphing 26-18 in Jujuy, losing 29-6 in Salta, and securing a 34-31 victory in Santiago del Estero.
The major milestone in the starting XV sees Matías Alemanno earn his 100th cap, becoming just the fifth player in Los Pumas history to reach the century mark. The Córdoba native, who began his rugby career with La Tablada, made his international debut on 17 May 2014 against Uruguay in Paysandú. He has represented Argentina at three Rugby World Cups (2015, 2019, and 2023) and has made 45 appearances in the Rugby Championship, the fourth-highest total in the competition's history.
