Pablo Nicolás Matera, born on July 18, 1993, is an Argentine rugby union player who is known for his skills as a flanker.
He has played for several clubs throughout his career, including the Crusaders in Super Rugby, Stade Français in the Top 14 League, and the Leicester Tigers in England.
He has also represented Argentina at the international level, earning over 50 caps for his national team.
Matera began his club career with the Leicester Tigers in 2013, initially signing as an injury replacement. He scored his first try for the club in a match against the Newcastle Falcons during the 2013-14 season.
He then joined the Jaguares in 2016, following their inclusion in Super Rugby. Matera played a key role for the Jaguares, scoring his first try for the team in 2017 against the Waratahs.
In 2019, Matera moved to Stade Français in France, where he continued to showcase his skills on the field. His performances earned him a regular starting position for Argentina since his debut in 2013. He represented Argentina in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, helping the team reach the semi-finals.
One of Matera's notable achievements came on November 14, 2020, when he captained the Argentina national team to their historic first-ever win against the All Blacks.
However, in November 2020, Matera was temporarily stripped of his captaincy and suspended from the national team.
