The Lions would have the final say in the first half as they ran in their first try to get themselves back into the match at the break, trailing 22-10. Two early second half tries saw the Lions level things up at 22-22. But the Hurricanes hit back almost immediately, with a try edging them in front at 29-22. The Hurricanes then picked up a yellow card and the Lions capitalized on their numerical advantage with a penalty, followed by two tries to hit the lead at 39-29 heading into the final 10 minutes.
The Lions had the ascendency and crossed for a final try to take the game out of the Hurricanes reach and book their spot in the Super Rugby Final where they will host the Crusaders.
