Super Rugby Round 10: Chiefs v Sunwolves
- 1307
The Chiefs secured a hard fought 27-20 home win over the Sunwolves in round 10 of Super Rugby. The Chiefs were made to work for their three first-half tries as they took a 20-3 lead into the break. The Sunwolves scored first early in the second half to cut the gap to ten points but then missed two kicks at goal which could have made it a one-point ball game. The Chiefs responded with their fourth try to extend the lead to 27-10 with a quarter of the match to play. The Sunwolves refused to give in and went over for their second try and added a penalty to reduce the deficit to just seven points. However, the visitors picked up a late yellow and red card to go down to 13 men for the final play, with the Chiefs pressing for a bonus point try. Great defence by the Sunwolves kept them at bay as the Chiefs had to settle for just the four log points.
