The Scarlets have completed their coaching team for next season with the appointment of Richard Whiffin as assistant attack coach.
Whiffin has been head coach of the Gloucester Academy for the last two years and is part of the England Under-20s coaching team for the Junior World Championships in Argentina next month. He will link up with the Scarlets when he returns from South America.
He will be among a five-strong senior coaching team at Parc y Scarlets that will be headed up by Brad Mooar and also includes Ioan Cunningham (forwards), Glenn Delaney (defence) and Dai Flanagan (backs).
Whiffin had more than a decade at London Irish where he started as an analyst and moved on to become attack coach, working with future England internationals Jonathan Joseph and Anthony Watson and alongside Delaney during the New Zealander’s spell with the Exiles. During that time he also worked with the England Saxons.
He joined the Gloucester Academy in 2016 and was promoted to head of academy a year later.
At the start of this season, he was brought on board as attack coach with England Under-20s.
