Rob Baxter hailed his side’s defensive display as Exeter Chiefs guaranteed their first ever European semi-final with a 48-13 victory over Newcastle Falcons.
The home side scored six tries, all of which were converted, to book a semi-final away to Gloucester in a couple of weeks.
But such a hefty scoreline looked unlike early on, with Newcastle enjoying much of the early territory before Dave Ewers dotted down on a rare foray forwards.
