Premiership Highlights: Newcastle Falcons 16 v Gloucester Rugby 14
- 652
Full-time at Kingston Park and it is the hosts that steal this game by the narrowest of margins, thanks to a last-gasp Joel Hodgson penalty. What a thrilling encounter it proved to be! Falcons dominated the first half, but for all of their pressure, were stunned to go in at 7-7 at the break, with May grabbing a try minutes before the half-time whistle. Gloucester seemed to find their rhythm early in the second half, exerting huge amounts of pressure on the Falcons, and they were duly rewarded with a Marshall try. But the turning point, the Lloyd Evans yellow card, for a reckless aerial tackle on Hodgson. And it was Hodgson who had the courage to step up in the last play of the game and slot a penalty through the uprights to win the game for Falcons.
