Freddie Clarke & Ollie Thorley pen new deal with Gloucester

Gloucester Rugby back row Freddie Clarke and winger Ollie Thorley have both put pen to paper on new deals to remain at Kingsholm.

25-year-old Clarke joined the club's Academy in 2016, and earned a first team deal for the current season. And, after 17 appearances to date this season, has now agreed a new longer term deal with the club.
 
Winger Thorley is the club's top try scorer this season, including an impressive tally of four in a Man of the Match performance against Zebre Rugby in December. Full story

Cronin added to Ireland 6 Nations squad


James Cronin has been added to Ireland's 6 Nation squad to cover for Dave Kilcoyne who picked up a knee injury during Munster's clash with Castres.



The Ireland squad departed this morning for a training camp in Oliva Nova in southern Spain and will return to Ireland on Friday.  

Steve Tandy leaves Ospreys with immediate effect

Ospreys Rugby has released a statement where Managing Director Andrew Millward has confirmed that Head Coach, Steve Tandy, will be leaving his position at the region with immediate effect.

Millward commented on the announcement saying:“Steve has been an outstanding servant to Ospreys Rugby – often in challenging circumstances. His dedication to the region and his hard work has been absolute. However, we’re aware that results have not been good enough this season and that, regrettably, a change is necessary to keep the organisation moving forward – consistent with the long-term expectations of our loyal and valued supporters and commercial partners..." Read more

Ireland U20 Squad named for U20 Six Nations 2018

The Ireland U20 squad has been confirmed for the 2018 U20 Six Nations Championship by Head Coach Noel McNamara.

The 32-man squad features 11 players who were capped across last season's U20 Six Nations and World Rugby U20 World Championships.

In the forwards, prop Jordan Duggan, hookers Ronan Kelleher and Diarmuid Barron, along with back-row Sean Masterson all featured last season, as did backs; scrum-half Jonny Stewart, out-half Conor Dean, centres Angus Curtis, David McCarthy and Tommy O'Brien along with back three players Mark Keane and Michael Silvester. Tommy O'Brien will captain the side. Full squad

Cory Allen and Paul James ruled out through injury

Allen and James ruled out

Ospreys duo Cory Allen and Paul James are both facing a spell on the sidelines the Ospreys medical team confirmed today.

Chris Towers, Medical Performance Manager, said:

“Cory suffered a pectoral injury in the Dragons game on New Year’s Eve and underwent surgery to repair the problem at the end of last week. The expected timeline for Cory is a four to five month period of rehabilitation.

 

“In Paul’s case he sustained a shoulder injury in the same game and is currently undergoing a rehab programme and will be assessed over the coming weeks to determine a course of treatment and management.”

Reds sign Jono Lance

The Queensland Reds have added further experience to their backline for the 2018 Super Rugby season, with the signing of former Queensland representative Jono Lance.


 
The 27-year-old flyhalf has played more than 50 Super Rugby games and won two Super Rugby trophies and an NRC title since making his debut for the Reds back in 2011. Read more
