JWC: Ireland edge brave Scotland in tough conditions.
Ireland centre Garry Ringrose emphasised how tricky the conditions were during his team’s 24-20 win over Scotland in Calvisano.

The Irish were ahead 24-13 going into the final minutes but a late consolation try for Scotland from replacement Ruaridh Knott gave the Scots a bonus point late on.

Ringrose admitted that on another day Scotland may have been the winning side and not Ireland, who are currently sitting on two wins from their first two games against the Scots and Argentina.

“The conditions played a huge part, it was really hot here, over 30 degrees, so it was always going to be tough,” said Ringrose.

“Both packs were blowing hard and the simple things were going to win it and if one or two things had gone differently I am sure Scotland could have come out on the right end of the win.”

Ireland's biggest challenge however is still to come, when they face New Zealand in Viadana this Wednesday in a clash to decide the top spot in Pool C.
