Hogan to leave Leinster for Scarlets

Skills coach Hugh Hogan will depart Leinster Rugby after eight and a half years to take up a role with Welsh outfit Scarlets.

Hogan, who has most recently worked as the contact skills coach for the senior men’s team, first joined the province as an Elite Player Development Officer in 2013 having previously gained over a decade of experience in the schools and club games.

His appointment to the contact skills role in 2017 by head coach Leo Cullen was in recognition of the changing nature of contact within the game but also of the need to put more focus on a safer tackle technique.

As part of the senior coaching team, Hogan has helped the team achieve a Heineken Champions Cup win and four consecutive Guinness PRO14 titles.

He has also been head coach of Leinster U-19s, Leinster U-20s and Leinster ‘A’ as well as coaching with the Ireland Sevens programme at both U-19 and Senior level.
