France v Ireland: Play of the game

France stunned Ireland in the opening game of the Six Nations. A game that was controlled by Fabien Galthie’s men from kick-off produced a brilliant piece of play early in the game.

Around the 12th minute mark, Matthieu Jalibert kicks across the field into space, Sam Prendergast comes across to cover and fly hacks it ahead. Nicolas Depoortere keeps it in and passes to Ramos, Ramos comes back to the short side and gives it back to Depoortere who runs into traffic offloads to Yoram Moefana in the tackle, who also offloads to Louis Bielle-Biarrey. Louis slips a stretching Gibson-Parks tackle as he heads down the line. Prendergast flies in and taps his ankle, he goes down to his knees but quickly gets up and speeds away to slip another tackle from Jamie Osborne and he goes over the whitewash for the first try of the championship.
