Domestic clubs must roll dice if they are to break French monopoly


English clubs will struggle to compete at the top level in European rugby
until they find a way of spending more and competing better in the market
for the top international players, according to Brian O’Driscoll, the former
Ireland captain, who has three European Cups to his name.



The clubs in the European Champions Cup semi-finals this weekend include one
English representative, Saracens, who are longs-odds underdogs against
Clermont Auvergne tomorrow, with the bookmakers strongly fancying an
all-French final of Clermont versus Toulon.
