Brumbies have announced that Dan McKellar will step into the role of Head Coach for the 2018 Super Rugby season.
McKellar will follow Stephen Larkham intro the role once Larkham takes up his full-time duties with the Wallabies.
McKellar first arrived at the club as Defence Coach in 2013 and has since been Head Coach of the UC Vikings as well as becoming Assistant Coach to Larkham with the Super Rugby franchise.
“I am feel honoured and privileged to be taking over as Head Coach of this fantastic club,” McKellar commented. “It’s a wonderful club to be part of and I am looking forward to helping shape the future of the Brumbies, on and off the field.
“Having worked with Stephen for several years, and been part of the Brumbies set-up since 2013, I am confident that we have some exciting times ahead of us. We have lots of young talent at the club and are in the process of looking to consolidate our playing resources for next season.
McKellar, a former loosehead prop, featured in more than 150 first grade games for Souths Rugby Club in Brisbane, and was a member of the Queensland Reds team for the 2005/06 Super Rugby season. He also played club rugby in Scotland and Ireland.
As a Coach, he began his career at Souths and, following four years in the job, he made the move to Canberra to join the Tuggeranong Vikings in the local John I Dent Cup competition winning Premierships in 2011 and 2012 and forging the highly successful academy that has become a pathway for aspiring rugby talent.
