Chris Ashton starts for Tigers, Clermont make wholesale changes

Leicester Tigers host Clermont in the second leg of the Champions Cup round of 16 second-leg on Saturday after dispatching the French club 10-29 last weekend.

Both teams have made several changes to their matchday 23s after last weekend's clash.

Ellis Genge and Joe Heyes retain their starting roles with Julian Montoya missing out with Nic Dolly replacing the Argentine in the starting lineup. Charlie Clare comes onto the bench filling the vacancy left by Dolly.

Harry Wells and Eli Snyman come into the starting lineup with Ollie Chessum moving to the side of the scrum with Hanro Liebenberg replacing Jasper Wiese at no.8. Tommy Reffell retains the no.7 jersey.

Jack van Poortvliet and George Ford continue as the starting halfbacks while Harry Potter moves from the right wing onto the left in place of Hosea Saumaki with Chris Ashton making his Tiger's European debut on the right.


Freddie Steward completes in the starting lineup earning his 50th Tigers cap in doing so.

As for Clermont, only Giorgi Beria and Fritz Lee retain their starting roles in the pack. Yohan Beheregaray (c) and Cristian Ojovan join Beria in the starting lineup.


Thibaud Lanen and Miles Amatosero come into the starting lineup replacing Paul Jedrasiak and Sebastien Vahaamahina. Clement Lanen and Lucas Dessaigne start alongside Lee.

Scrumhalf Baptiste Jauneau earns his first start for Clermont with Cammille Lopez retained at no.10. George Moala and Wesley Fofana continue in the centres while Marvin O'Connor comes in on the wing as Cheik Tiberghien replaces the injured Kotaro Matsushima at fullback. Alivereti Raka starts on the left wing.
