Brumbies sign Chance Peni

Brumbies have signed former Wests Tigers and Western Force winger Chance Peni on a two-year deal for the 2018 Super Rugby season.

Born in Invercargill in New Zealand, Peni moved with his family to Perth at a young age. The 24-year old played both Rugby League and Rugby Union growing up before moving to Newcastle and signing with the NRL's Newcastle Knights.

After two years with the Knights junior teams Peni signed a two-year contract with the Wests Tigers where he played mostly with the side’s NSW Cup team.

In late 2016 Peni decided to return home to Perth and take up a contract with the Western Force under new Head Coach Dave Wessels.

A skillful winger with silky skills and electric pace, Peni dominated the early rounds of Super Rugby in 2017, scoring a highlight reel of tries and proving he had a bright future in the 15-man game.

A shoulder injury prematurely ended the speedster’s season but he returned at the beginning of the National Rugby Championship with the Perth Spirit.

Brumbies Head Coach Dan McKellar said he was excited to add Peni’s attacking x-factor to the Brumbies backline.

“Chance is a very talented player and he offers that spark in attack and has a natural ability to find the try-line that is vital for every team in Super Rugby,” McKellar said of the arrival of the former Force man.
