A delighted La Rochelle captain Gregory Alldritt has been quick to praise the club’s passionate fans who came out in their droves to support their team to a 24-21, title-clinching victory over Leinster at the Stade Vélodrome yesterday.
Not given much of a chance before kick-off, La Rochelle took the game to their opponents and, spurred on by the eager voices of their supporters, ground out an exciting win – the first Champions Cup title in the club’s history.
This victory is huge. I am emptied,” Alldritt said.
“[When] I arrive in La Rochelle, I think I will realise. What makes the most fun is to bring the trophy back to the fans.
“I think they deserve it almost more than we do. They never let us go. When you see the Vélodrome, what more do you want? We just can’t wait to give them the trophy. They are so wonderful.”
