Educated at Selborne College, East London. Coetzee represented the Border province for 6 years in the Vodacom and Currie Cup until his move to Racing Metro in 2006. Notching up 70 caps for for Racing, the powerhouse prop then moved to Castres for the 2009/2010 season where he is still currently contracted.
