Northampton bring in some fresh legs, two experienced replacements Phil Dowson and Kahn Fotuali'i who could be crucial to turning this game in their favour.

South African Rory Kockott comes on at scrum-half. First appearance for Castres in a month for the man who has been linked with a move to Toulon. Straight away he wins a penalty which he will attempt to convert.

First real bit of attacking magic and it's from Castres' English winger Marcel Garvey. Garvey showed electric pace to burn a hole in the Northampton defence and just when a try looked certain he feel while looking to find his support runner.

Scrappy opening 5 minutes to the second half with the theme of knock-ons continuing on.

Northampton will take a 3-0 lead into the break after Stephen Myler opened the scoring with the last act of the half. There may not have been much fluid attaking play but the competitiveness and physicality on display has been second to none. Castres probably can't complain with the score with the penalty counting standing at 7-0 against them. That said Northampton will be hoping for a much improved second half as they chase an increasingly unlikely quarter final berth with Leinster currently leading 17-3 at half-time over at the RDS.

Castres felt they were in for the opening try of the game after a quick line-out saw Remy Grosso in for the try. However the TMO deemed that Remi Lamerat did not use the same ball that went out when taking the line-out and the try was correctly ruled out. Still scoreless.
