Castres sit in a disappointing 10th position in the French Top 14, with three wins and five losses from their eight games. It will be their first match in the Challenge Cup, as their first round fixture against Pau was postponed in the wake of the tragic Paris attacks.
Newport lies in 9th spot in the Guinness Pro 12 with two wins and five defeats from their seven matches. They did however get their Challenge Cup campaign off to a successful start with a 30-12 win over the Sale Sharks in round 1. They will be looking for back to back wins in the competition.
