Coming into the side after the conclusion of the Oceania Rugby U20s Championship, Liam can fill multiple positions in the backline as required and isn’t afraid to put his body on the line. Impressing against the Australian Barbarians and NSW Country.
McNamara was selected into the Australians 7's squad ahead of the Sydney 7's in 2017.
In July 2018 he was included in the Australians 7's squad for the Sevens World Cup.
