Yann Thomas, born on April 16, 1990, is a rugby union player who currently plays as a prop for Bristol RFC in the Gallagher Premiership. Although he started his career at Bristol, Thomas joined the Gloucester Rugby Academy before the 2008-09 season, where he impressed and earned a senior deal.
Thomas made his full senior debut for Gloucester in the LV= Cup during the 2009-10 season. He also had a stint as a dual-registered player for Moseley. In April 2013, Thomas signed a two-year contract extension that kept him at Gloucester until the end of the 2014-15 season. He then agreed to another contract extension with Gloucester on April 25, 2015.
After a nine-year tenure with Gloucester, Thomas made a move to French club Rouen in Federale 1, the third division, on a one-year contract with an option for a further year. However, on January 20, 2018, Thomas returned to England and joined his hometown club Bristol ahead of the 2018-19 season.
Thomas made a significant impact when he joined Bristol Bears, playing a crucial role in establishing the club in the Gallagher Premiership. His outstanding performances earned him the Bristol Bears Forward of the Season award following the impressive 2020-21 campaign. Despite his previous affiliation with Gloucester, Thomas's arrival at Bristol was a true homecoming, as he resides just a short walk away from Ashton Gate.
Prior to his professional career, Thomas started playing rugby at Combination side Nailsea and Backwell. He accumulated 74 appearances for Gloucester before making the move to Stade Rouennais in France. Thomas's experience and contributions have made him a valued member of the Bristol Bears squad as they continue to compete in the Gallagher Premiership.
