UBB battle from behind in Bulls’ backyard
- 175
The Bulls faced Bordeaux at Loftus. A fast paced, action-filled first half where if you looked away for a second then you’d miss a whole lot of action.
The Bordeaux side struck first through Damian Penaud as he went down the right. Bulls struck back through Sebastian de Klerk.
From that point, UBB’s every blow was met by the Bulls in kind. Bielle-Biarrey replicated Penaud’s earlier score, but Ludwig immediately restored the hosts’ spark with a surge down the left. UBB were back minutes later courtesy of Maxime Lamothe. The Bulls answered immediately through Akker van der Merwe, Canan Moodie also struck another one before Jeandre Rudolph added the last of the half.

UBB tightened things up at the back for the second period. Boris Palu pulled one back within five minutes of the restart, afterwards Bielle-Biarrey completed his brace and then Jalibert got on the scoresheet.
The Bulls were now experiencing the same defensive weaknesses they had exploited in the first half, as the French side cruised past 40 points.
A commanding performance from Bordeaux, becoming the first French team to defeat the Bulls on their home turf. Their title defence is clearly off to a strong start.
