A hooker that can play on the side of the scrum too, van Jaarsveld, started his career at the Falcons before spending 5 years at the Pumas. In 2014 he moved to the Cheetahs where he plays his Super Rugby and captains their Currie Cup team. He will represent Namibia at the 2015 RWC.
Since joining the Cheetahs van Jaarsveld has become an integral part of the Cheetahs forward pack and was named as the Cheetahs vice captain.
van Jaarsveld joined the French side Bayonne at the beginning of the 2018/19 season on an initial two year contract. He left the club after 100 appearances in the Top 14, Pro D2 and Challenge Cup competitions at the end of the 2022/23 season.
van Jaarsveld scored 26 tries in 100 appearances for Bayonne. More recently in a World cup 2023 warm up match against Argentina XV, he scored a hat-trick within 63 minutes.
At the age of 36 years, van Jaarsveld is preparing for his third World Cup in Namibian colours, after being called up by coach Phil Davies.
