D'Apice was part of the Italy squad that claimed a shocking win over the Springboks for the first time in history in their 13th encounter, with the South Africans going down 20-18 at the 2016 November Tests.
In January 2017, the hooker was called into the Italy squad for the Six Nations tournament, where he will add to his 5 Six Nations caps, without scoring.
