Talented player with the ball in hand and an excellent goal kicker de Beer was named in the SA Schools side after two stellar years at Craven Week for the Blue Bulls.

That same year he was named in the South African under 20s side for the World Rugby Under 20 Championship.

He helped the side to a 2nd place finish in the tournament as they failed to beat England.

In 2016 he attended the University of Pretoria and was the top points scoring for UP Tuks as they went on to win the Varsity Cup in 2017.

After the 2017 Varsity Cup he was named in the Blue Bulls squad for the Super Sport Challenge Cup.

In May 2018, he signed a new deal to remain with the Bulls until 2019.
