Teti Tela, born on March 7, 1991, is a Fijian rugby union player who primarily plays as a fly-half for the Fijian Drua in the Super Rugby competition. He made his debut for Fiji against the Barbarians in November 2019.
Tela has been a standout performer in Queensland Premier Rugby since completing his schooling at Redbank Plains State High School. As a product of the Souths Magpies, he played a key role in guiding Souths to the Premier Rugby title in 2015.
Following his success at the club level, he made his debut in the National Rugby Championship (NRC) with Bond University Queensland Country. His exceptional performances for Souths earned him a recall to the Country's squad, where they secured their maiden NRC title in 2017.
Having impressed with his performances, Tela earned further recognition by earning seven caps for Queensland Country and scoring two tries. This led to his inclusion in the Queensland Reds' Super Rugby squad for the 2018 season.
Known for his versatility, Tela can play in multiple positions, providing coach Brad Thorn with more options during his debut Super Rugby season.
Tela made his Super Rugby debut in the Reds' final match of the 2018 season against the Sunwolves. He subsequently signed a new contract for the 2019 Super Rugby season, continuing his professional rugby journey.
Throughout his career, Tela has represented various teams, including Fiji U20, Getxo Artea in Spain, and Brisbane City in the NRC. He also earned a cap for the Flying Fijians in 2021.
On a personal note, Tela is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first child and is excited to embrace fatherhood.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023 Tela has been named in the training squad for Fiji.
