Tamaiti Williams is a New Zealand rugby union player who plays for Canterbury in the Mitre 10 Cup and Crusaders in the Super Rugby Pacific competition.
With deep rugby history rooted in the family Tamaiti is Cousins of Brady Rush, a New Zealand Sevens player who is the son of sevens legend Eric Rush. Born in August 2000, the 144kg 6ft5 Tighthead prop was schooled at St. Kentigern College in New Zealand. While playing as a loose forward in his schooling days, Williams has since transitioned to the front row where he gained some experience at loosehead prop and has now settled at Tighthead prop.
Williams made his debut for Canterbury in Round 1 of the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup against North Harbour and was named in the Crusaders squad for the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season.
In November 2021 Maori All Black Coach Clayton McMillan named his squad to play Moana Pasific on the 5th of December which included Tamati for the first time and he was the youngest in the team.
After a rock-solid introduction to Super Rugby in 2021, Tamaiti Williams is set to make a massive impact on the competition in the near future.
Between the 2022 and 2023 Super Rugby seasons, Williams made 31 appearances for the Crusaders and scored 4 tries.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Williams has been named in the squad for New Zealand.
