28th Sep 1981 1.73m/96kg Hooker

Starting his professional career with Glasgow Warriors after coming through his junior club, Biggar RFC, Lawson moved south of the border after three seasons in the Pro12.

Lawson moved to Newcastle Falcons in the summer of 2013, the robust hooker bringing with him a wealth of Premiership experience having played for Sale Sharks, spending four seasons at Gloucester Rugby and making 18 league outings in his single season at London Irish.

A vastly-experienced international, Lawson has to date collected 46 caps for Scotland including a try-scoring performance in his team’s opening match of the 2007 Rugby World Cup against Portugal.

His consistent performances at the heart of the front row making him a valuable member of the Newcastle squad and he earned himself a Scotland call up for the 2018 Six Nations.

As well as his playing commitments with the Falcons, he is also head coach of National Two North club Tynedale.

After a career which has brought more than a century of appearances for Falcons and 47 international caps for Scotland, Lawson announced that he would retire from professional rugby at the end of the 2017/18 season.
