Having represented the Lions at youth level, lock Rhyno Herbst went on to represent the Lions at U19 & U21 before he was named in the Wits Varsity Cup squad.
His performances from the 2017 Varsity Cup lead to him being named in the Lions Currie Cup squad, where he made his Currie Cup debut against the Pumas.
In May Herbst was called into the Lions Super Rugby squad and was named on the bench to face the Stormers.
