Lehmann captained and starred for Paarl Gimnasium, earning selection for the South African Schools team in 2008. He progressed through the Western Province youth ranks before joining Maties (University of Stellenbosch), where he played in the 2011–2013 Varsity Cup competitions.
At senior level, he made eight appearances for Western Province in the Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup between 2011 and 2013. In 2013, he was selected for the South African Universities team that faced Namibia.
Following his retirement from playing, Lehmann joined Paarl Gimnasium as a rugby coach and teacher. Working initially under former Springbok Pieter Rossouw, he became first-team coach and played a key role in maintaining the school's status as one of South Africa's premier rugby nurseries. He also served as acting head coach during Rossouw's consultancy in Japan
In 2025, Lehmann was appointed assistant coach of the Stormers XXIII (WP)
