Eli Caven is a rugby player hailing from the Bristol Bears academy, known for his versatile skills on the field. He began his rugby journey by being dual-registered with Clifton while in the Bristol Bears academy, primarily playing for the amateur club. In the summer of 2016, Caven seized an opportunity to enhance his skills in New Zealand, where he played for Sumner in the Canterbury area, gaining valuable experience abroad.
Caven officially joined the Bristol Bears academy in 2016, demonstrating his potential in various competitions, including the Premiership Sevens. During his pursuit of a degree in Strength and Conditioning at Hartpury University, he played for Hartpury University, initially on a loan deal and later in the English Championship. This period provided him with the platform to further develop his rugby abilities while acquiring valuable academic knowledge.
In 2020, Caven made a significant move to join the Ayrshire Bulls in the Super 6 competition, showcasing his commitment to his professional career. His dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed, and in 2022, he was given the opportunity to train with the Glasgow Warriors. Head Coach Franco Smith expressed his satisfaction with Caven's progress, highlighting his impressive performance during a training match against Scotland under-20s, where he scored three tries. The coaching staff recognized the value of expanding their player pool, and Caven's potential made him a welcomed addition to the Glasgow Warriors team.
On 25 February 2023, Caven made his highly anticipated competitive debut for the Glasgow Warriors in a match against the Lions in the United Rugby Championship. He made an immediate impact by scoring a try, showcasing his prowess on the field. With this debut, Caven proudly earned the title of Glasgow Warrior No. 351, joining a prestigious roster of players who have represented the club.
Off the field, Caven's dedication to rugby extends to his coaching career. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Strength and Conditioning and is recognized as a BWL Olympic Weightlifting Coach. Currently, he serves as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Ayrshire Bulls, contributing his expertise to help athletes reach their full potential.
