Winners & Losers from South Africa v Portugal

For first time ever South Africa faced Portugal and what an entertaining game it was. The score line shows that the number 1 ranked side in the world played against the 15^th ranked team.

Let us look at some of the Winners and Losers.

Losers:

Andre Esterhuizen

A player hardly ever has the intention of being sent off and some would argue that that tackle did not warrant a red card, but it happened, and it was unfortunate.  

Mannie Libbok

Missing 3 from 5 conversions, Libbok has been struggling with his kicking since the World Cup and in big games, one kick might be the decider.

Quan Horn

Although he scored on his debut, making a silly mistake to get sent off, with a total of 17 minutes played, lands him on the loser list.

Winners:

RG Snyman

Snyman had a good game and deserved the Man of the Match award.

Makazole Mapimpi

The winger scored a hattrick of tries and had an overall great game.

Simão Bento

The fullback had a great game for Os Losbos. He had a 71% tackle success rate against an attacking Springbok side.

Jose Paiva dos Santos

The winger had a great game scoring 2 of the 3 tries scored by Portugal.

Phepsi Buthelezi, Jan-Hendrik Wessels, Quan Horn and Andre-Hugo Venter

The four debutants for South Africa all scored. It will be a night to remember for the youngsters.
