Wellington looked to have unearthed another promising prospect at hooker who could rival Asafo Aumua in years to come.
20-year-old hooker Tyrone Thomson made his first Mitre 10 Cup start against the Bay of Plenty on Friday and the former Napier Boys High School student did not disappoint!
Weighing 111kgs and standing 186cm tall, Thomson has 9cms and 3kgs on Asafoa Aumua and the promising youngster can move just like the All Black hooker.
With a lineout just inside his own half, Thomson threw the lineout to his captain Du'Plessis Kirifi who returned the ball to the wrecking ball hooker who sprinted into the Bay of Plenty half.
He threw a dummy to get past the first defender before beating two more to score a brilliant try on his full debut.

Thomson's try was part of an excellent second-half performance from Wellington who have now won two in a row after a 53-28 loss to Waikato in round one.
Wellington led by just two points, 12-10, at half time but they scored 20 unanswered points with the likes of Teariki Ben-Nicholas and Ben Love both dotting down for the hosts.
Wellington head to Canterbury next week while Bay of Plenty host Auckland.
