Warriors seek to break Bristol at Sixways

The stage is set at Sixways for the battle between Warriors and the Bears in the penultimate fixture of the Round.

An unattractive spectacle last weekend ended with Bristol  17-3 ahead on the scoreboard against Leicester Tigers. It was a slow and arduous game in which Bristol ground out victory in a somewhat prosaic manner, not managing to bag a bonus point although heavily favoured for a commanding victory before kick-off.

Worcester had a disappointing time of things in Round 11 as they slumped to a 22-14 defeat to George Skivington’s Gloucester at Kingsholm. Worcester struck within the first minute through a brilliant try from winger Nick David and held a 7-point lead for over half an hour before the home side before Billy Twelvetrees dived over for the Cherry & Whites.

Gloucester’s second try in the 51st minute seemed to kick them into a new gear and they rolled up their sleeves and took their opponents to task. A Worcester mistake was pounced on by Tom Seabrook who sprinted to dot down his side’s third try and, ultimately, put the game out of Worcester’s hands.

Despite the unimaginative performance last weekend, Bristol remain top of the log with 41 points, 6 ahead of second-placed Exeter Chiefs.

Worcester, on the other hand, have left themselves with a mountain to climb with just a single victory from 11 outings and just 17 points to their name.

One would expect Bristol to take this one, however, if it is anything like last weekend, it won’t be pretty.
