U20 Championship Top Performers - Semi Finals

U20 Championship Top Performers - Semi Finals

We take a look at the top performers following a pulsating penultimate round of the 2018 World Rugby U20 Championship action.

Mateo Carreras (Argentina)

A number of Argentina's players put in strong performances for the Los Pumitas including the likes of Manuel Nigues and Juan Molina but our top performer from the match was the exciting full back Mateo Carreras.

Carreras linked up well with his fellow back three and was a consent thorn in the Wales defence.

Guy Graham (Scotland)

Again there were a number of players to pick in a Scotland side that put a big shift in to beat Ireland 29-45.

Our pick goes to Guy Graham who came off the bench early on in the encounter.

He sliced through the Irish defence early in the second half to score a fantastic try but was industrious throughout the game.

Giovanni D'Onofrio (Italy)

Definitely a player to keep an eye on in the future. The Italian speedster was brilliant in the air, showed his great pace and finishing ability to run in a hattrick.

Fraser McReight (Australia)

McReight has industrious throughout the game despite his back rower partner receiving an early red card.
He carried the ball well, was excellent over the ball and was rewarded with two tries.

Tedo Abzhandadze (Georgia)

Tedo Abzhandadze was crucial in his side's come from behind victory over Japan alongside his halfback partner, Gela Aprasidze.
The no.10 was good off the boot and made a brilliant break which led to the match-winning try.

Tom Hardwick (England)

Hardwick was exciting on attack setting up England's first try before scoring the second.
He linked up well with Marcus Smith throughout the game and was pinpoint with his open play kicking.

France's Forward Pack

France put in a fantastic performance against New Zealand to secure a place in their first U20s final.
It was hard to single out a standout forward with all eight players and their replacements causing havoc.
Jordan Joseph, Antonin Berruyer and Cameron Woki were destructive on attack and defence.
The front rower dominated the scrums and put some heavy hits in, while the locks worked tirelessly throughout.

Special mention to France's playmakers Arthur Coville, Louis Carbonel and Romain N'tamack who made the most of their forward's dominance.
