Top Performers - Chiefs v Brumbies
- 1257
The Chiefs ended the Brumbies hopes of making the Super Rugby playoffs in a thrilling match at Waikato Stadium.
Here are our Top Performers from the clash:
Damian McKenzie
Who else? The Chiefs playmaker was exceptional against the Brumbies with a late miss penalty to secure the win the only blemish on his superb performance.
McKenzie racked up 151 running metres beating 4 defenders and made 4 clean breaks.
He scored his sides' second try and made an important interception with his side under the pump that set up a brilliant try for Johnny Fa'auli.
Allan Alaalatoa
A massive shift by the Brumbies tighthead, he dominated at scrum time, was strong with his carries and on defence.
He also displayed his exceptional ball handling skills when he tipped on a pass to Speight to score in the corner.
Tom Banks
190 running metres, 4 defenders beaten and 1 clean break shows just how influential the young fullback was in his sides' performance against the Chiefs.
He saved the Brumbies a number of times of defence as well and ran great support lines one of which paid dividends when he went over the line in the second half.
Tyler Ardron
Ardron's stats don't tell the full story of what was yet another stellar performance by the Canadian.
He made 3 carries and 8 tackles but his real work was done when the Brumbies looked to maul over the Chiefs line.
He dismantled the Brumbies maul on a number of occasions and did some excellent work at the breakdown.
David Pocock
Again another top draw performance by David Pocock.
The Brumbies openside was a threat at the breakdown winning numerous penalties for his side - as per usual - but his work on attack got the Brumbies back in the game.
He made 51 running metres beating 3 defenders and made two clean breaks. He was also credited with a try assist.
