Talking Points: Bath vs Wasps
- 1551
Bath found themselves getting out the starting blocks pretty slowly against Wasps but grit and determination got them over the finishing line. Here are some of the talking points of the match:
Bath went into the break 17-10 down but one can assume that after a few stern words from manager Todd Blackadder they came out firing for their home supporters and they turned the deficit around to win 29-17.
The Talking Points:
Zach Mercer’s Form
The No 8 scored two tries close to the line for Bath but that isn’t why he is getting a mention. Mercer made 27 carries in the match and gained a solid 60 metres, while also beating nine defenders along the way. The 21-year-old played the full 80 minutes and was named man of the match.
Joe Cokanasiga Try In The 78th Minute
The English-Fijian winger was a complete handful and scored a match-winning try in the dying minutes of the match. The scores were 17-17 at the time but Bath did their utmost to get the ball out wide to their flyer and he finished off a neat try.
Another amazing Cokanasiga run in the first half….
Disallowed Try For Wasps Just Before Half-Time
After a fantastic display of handling and front foot, rugby Wasps went over for a try in the left corner just before the half-time hooter, which the TMO overturned. Gabiriele Lovobalavu was adjudged to have forward passed the ball to Josh Bassett on the wing. Do you agree?
