The Sharks ground out a 23-15 away win over the Waratahs in round 11 of Super Rugby. The sides each crossed for a single first half try and added a single penalty as the teams headed into the halftime break deadlocked at 10-10. Early into the second half the Waratahs picked up a red card and the Sharks a yellow card, but the visitors missed two penalty kicks at goal in quick succession. It went from bad to worse for the Waratahs, as a yellow card reduced them to 13 players, with the Sharks capitalizing with their second try to lead 17-10. The visitors were on top and made their numerical advantage count, slotting a further two penalties to extend their advantage out to 23-10. The Waratahs went over for a try well after the siren, but the conversion to snatch a losing bonus point went wide.
