Steyn extends Stade Francais stay

Former Springbok and Bulls flyhalf Morne Steyn will be coached by his former coach Heyneke Meyer next season after signing a new one-year deal with the Paris based side - with an option of an additional year.

Steyn looked set to join Brive next season but following their relegation the 33-year-old has decided to remain with Stade Francais.

The new Stade Francais coach, Heyneke Meyer, handed Steyn his Bulls debut back in 2005 and selected Steyn to represent South Africa when he took over as the Springbok coach.

The 67 Test cap flyhalf commented on his new deal saying "I had two clubs in my life, I want to finish here".

Steyn has made 104 appearances for the Paris-based club since joining the club in 2013 scoring 3 402 points.

I'm happy with this extension. I had been waiting for it for a long time. I am a faithful man, I played 10 years at the Bulls and it's been 5 years that I'm here, I want to finish here. I wanted to finish my career at the Stade Français Paris and it is now possible. I had only two clubs in my life with which I won and I want to win again. I think in two years, I'll be old (laughs), it'll be time to hang up the crampons. It's a new adventure now. There are new coaches, new players, it's going to be a very interesting season and I'm looking forward to it. "
