So Close!! Should AJ MacGinty's penalty kick have counted?
- 1241
AJ MacGinty starred in Sale Sharks' 28-17 victory as he dictated play and maintained a 100% kicking record from the tee scoring 23 points as Sale Sharks closed the game on the league table between them and the Harlequins.
72 minutes into Sale Sharks win over Harlequins, AJ MacGinty stepped up to the tee to hand Sales Sharks an eight-point lead with a penalty.
The accurate American kicker sent the ball over the post with the assistant referees raising their flags, however, Harlequins' prop Kyle Sinckler was one of the players who raised his arms in appeal.
As you can see in the clip below the MacGinty sent the ball high with his kick and Sinckler was right to question the decision.
This is bizarre 👀

AJ MacGinty sends a penalty over the bar to extend Sale's lead over Harlequins...
Or does he? 🤔
Kyle Sinckler certainly wanted the TMO to have a look, that is a really close call! pic.twitter.com/IS0TaRPPIQ
Referee Wayne Barnes decided that the TMO was not needed as his assistant had the best view.
Should the TMO have a had a look at this one?
