Ahead of the 2022 Rugby Championship, we look at the win ratios for the current tier 1 test head coaches.
Argentina and South Africa secured Series victories in July, while Australia and New Zealand both lost their Series, which has impacted Dave Rennie and Ian Foster's win ratios.
11. Kieran Crowley - Italy

Crowley took over as the Italy head coach after the 2021 Six Nations and claimed his first win as Italy head coach against Uruguay in November that year after losses to New Zealand and Argentina.
In his first Six Nations campaign, Italy lost four games on the trot before ending a 36-game losing streak in the competition by beating Wales 22-21 in Cardiff.
This July, his side did pick up wins against Portugal and Romania but fell to a 28-19 defeat to Georgia, the victor's first-ever win over Italy.

Since taking over from Warren Gatland after the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Wayne Pivac's tenure as Wales' head coach has been filled with highs and lows.
They claimed just the single win in his first Six Nations in charge, against Italy, before going on to Grand Slam the 2021 tournament. 2022, Wales fell to a home defeat to Italy in the Six Nations before going to South Africa to claim their first win over the Boks in their backyard.
Their single draw came against Argentina during the 2021 July internationals.
9. Dave Rennie - Australia

It has been a mixed bag of results for Dave Rennie since he took over the Wallabies.
Australia is still searching for their first Bledisloe Cup since 2002, with their record, under Rennie, against New Zealand reading seven played, one win, one draw and five losses.
Rennie faced off against South Africa for the first time last year and claimed back-to-back wins over the Boks. Japan is the only other side yet to beat Rennie's Wallabies.
His side did claim a series win over France last year but fell short against England this July. He also lost his only test against Scotland to date.
8. Gregor Townsend - Scotland

Towsend took over the Scotland head coach role in 2017 and has since led the side in 57 test matches.
During his tenure as head coach, he has won the Calcutta Cup on three occasions, retaining it once in 2019 in the drawn test.
He has lost just once to England but has also seen his side go down to Japan in the Rugby World Cup, which meant they failed to progress out of the pool stages.
7. Jamie Joseph - Japan

Jamie Joseph is one of just three coaches who have been in his role before the 2019 Rugby World Cup. He guided Japan to the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history, claiming wins in all group stage matches before falling to the Springboks.
Japan didn't play any tests in 2020 but returned in 2021, claiming just one win, beating Portugal 25-38. The Brave Blossoms fell to defeats at the hands of Ireland and Scotland - teams they defeated in 2019 - and Australia.
In their four tests this year, they have a 50% win ratio beating Uruguay twice and losing to France twice.
Joseph's one draw came against France in November 2017.
6. Jacques Nienaber - South Africa

Nienaber was promoted from within the coaching staff that won the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and though he was officially the head coach in 2020, his first match was in 2021 against Georgia, a fixture the South Africans won 40-9.
His side lost the first test of the 2021 Lions Series but won the next two to clinch the Series.
Back-to-back defeats against Australia ended his hopes of a Rugby Championship title, but the Springboks got back up to secure wins over Wales and Scotland in November but fell to England in their last game on tour.
His side beat New Zealand in one of their two tests in 2021 and defeated Wales in tests 1 and 3 to secure a home series win this July.
5. Michael Cheika - Argentina

An experienced head, Cheika is the newest head coach on the list, having led Argentina for the first time this July.
His side went down in the second test against Scotland but did manage a series victory thanks to wins in tests 1 and 3.
Next up, Cheika faces off against his former employers, Australia, in the Rugby Championship.
4. Ian Foster - New Zealand

Four losses in their last five games has seen Ian Foster's 83% All Blacks' win ratio plummet to below 70% as the pressure mounts on the man who succeeded Steve Hansen after the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Foster has lost to Ireland (thrice), France, South Africa, and Argentina since he took over, the latter beating the All Blacks for the first time in 2020.
His record against Ireland reads four tests, one win and three losses.
Despite his poor record, by the All Blacks standard, he has won the Rugby Championship twice, one Freedom Cup, and two Bledisloe Cups.
3. Andy Farrell - Ireland

Andy Farrell took over as the Ireland head coach role from Joe Schmidt after the 2019 Rugby World Cup. It took a while for his charges to come to grips with their new style under Farrell, finishing third in his first two Six Nations campaigns.
However, they went undefeated in the 2021 end-of-year internationals, defeating Japan, New Zealand, and Argentina.
A narrow loss to France denied Farrell a maiden Six Nations title as head coach and a potential grand slam. But Ireland headed off to New Zealand in July, claiming their first-ever win over the All Blacks in New Zealand in test 2 and backed that up with another win in test 3 to clinch a historic series victory.
2. Eddie Jones

Eddie Jones is in his second Rugby World Cup cycle as the England head coach and has maintained a respectable win ratio since making the switch from Japan.
In his first year as head coach, he led England to a first Six Nations Grand Slam in 13 years and backed that up with titles in 2017 and 2020.
He also guided England to a record-equalling 18 straight victories, claimed two series wins in Australia, an Autumn Nations Series title and runners-up in the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
He was also named World Rugby Coach of the Year in 2017.

It's been an incredibly successful period for French Rugby since Fabien Galthie took charge of the national squad.
He boasts the best win ratio of current tier 1 head coaches with just six losses from his 28 test matches.
He led France to their first victory over New Zealand for 12 years in November and backed that up with their first Six Nations Grand Slam in 12 years.
He took France to the top of the World Rankings this July, albeit just for one week. Under his guidance, France have lost to Australia, England and Scotland on two occasions.
