Player Ratings: Glasgow v Leinster
- 3937
After a fantastic final between Leinster and Glasgow which saw the defending champions retain the PRO14 Title we rate the finalist out of a possible 10.
Glasgow Warriors
1. Jamie Bhatti - 6
Bhatti had a busy first half making 8 carries and 8 tackles before the break but did get a bit of a run for his money in the scrums against Tadgh Furlong.
2. Fraser Brown - n/a
Brown enjoyed a strong start to the game before his final was cut short after just 25 minutes making it incredibly difficult to give him a fair rating.
Grant Stewart - 7
Lively from the minute he stepped onto the pitch. Made 9 carries, 12 tackles, one turnover and finished off a wonderful try to give Glasgow hope in the latter stages of the game.
3. Zander Fagerson - 6
Busy on attack and defence but was found a bit wanting in the scrums.
4. Scott Cummings - 6.5
Outstanding work rate making 13 carries and 18 tackles, missing just one, but Leinster did manage to read his movement at a few of the lineouts and force the steal.
5. Jonny Gray - 7
Another huge shift making 24 tackles and 16 carries. Gray got stuck into every facet of the game.
6. Rob Harley - 4
Strong aggressive, relished in the tight game that conditions required. He was however, hooked after 51 minutes as Glasgow looked to refresh their pack with Leinster dominating.
7. Callum Gibbins - 6.5
Another busy Glasgow forward making 14 carries and 22 tackles but was unable to be his usual self at the breakdown and slow Leisnter's attack.
8. Matt Fagerson - 8.5
Arguably Glasgow's best in defeat. Mading an outstanding 27 tackles and 16 carries, no other player made more tackles. He did well to spot the gap and power over for the first try of the game and kept Glasgow in it when he won a crucial penalty that Glasgow ended up scoring from to make a three point game in the latter stages.
🏉 Glasgow Warriors open the scoring with this try from Matt Fagerson, but Leinster come back with one of their own moments later through Garry Ringrose!

9. Ali Price - 5
Tried to speed the Glasgow attack up and play his usual game but the conditions made it hard for the halfback who was outplayed by his opposite.
10. Adam Hastings - 6
Kept Leinster guessing with everything he did. He kicked out of hand well and got the attack ticking over at times while making 11 tackles and missing two.
11. DTH van der Merwe - 5
Went looking for work and was reasonibly solid under the high ball. Racked up 44 running metres and beat three defenders but he ended the game on a low knocking the ball on to give Leinster the final scrum.
12. Sam Johnson - 4
Did well to evade 4 defenders but he was shut down by Henshaw and Ringrose's defence to make the real impact he can. Made 1 clean break but missed two tackles and was taken off in the 55th minute.
13. Kyle Steyn - 7
Another strong performance by the South African. He covered well in defence and ran some nice lines but his yellow card did prove to be costly as Leinster grabbed 3 points while he was off the pitch.
14. Tommy Seymour - 5
Seymour saw little ball but when he did he was quickly surrounded by at least two Leisnter defenders ready to bundle him into touch. He almost scored in the first half but was superbly smashed by Ringrose.
15. Stuart Hogg - 6.5
Far from the fairtyle ending to his time at Glasgow for Hogg. He was one of Glasgow most threatening weapons on attack racking up 69 running metres but he wasn't able to complete the match after he was taken out in the air by Rob Kearney and his match was cut short.
Leinster
1. Cian Healy - 9
Another tireless and ageless display from the loosehead who grabbed a crucial try made 12 tackles, 13 carries and came up with a turnover before being named man of the match.
2. Sean Cronin - 6
A few lineouts didn't go to plan for Cronin and his pack, one of which leading to a Glasgow try, but he did make up for it on defence making 11 tackles and combined nicely on attack.
3. Tadgh Furlong - 7
There were a few even scrums but in the end Furlong got the better of the Glasgow pack as he assured his dominance.
He also showed off his wide skill set with a few handy passes and tireless work rate.

4. Scott Fardy - 7
Played a key leaadership role as he kept the packed fired up. He controlled the maul well and got stuck into defence as well as the rucks, surely the Wallabies could do with him in the Japan?
5. James Ryan - 7.5
25 tackles, 14 carries! Another huge shift from the 22-year-old, as expected really. He also failed to miss a tackle and was excellent in the lineouts.
6. Rhys Ruddock - 8.5
A real contender for the man of the match. Ruddock made over 20 tackles within the first 50 minutes of the game missing just one the entire game. He carried well, tackled well and got stuck into the rucks.
A big first half shift from Rhys Ruddock 💪

7. Josh van der Flier - 7
Hardly looked like a man back for just his second game back from a long injury. Van der Flier tackled superbly, stalled the Glasgow attack at the rucks and provided his side with clean ball on attack, while still making 14 tackles.
8. Jack Conan - 7
Carried well, particularlly from the base of the scrum and hit double digits in the carries and tackle stats.
9. Luke McGrath - 7.5
Box kicked well and gave Leinster the opportunity to regain possesion with most of his kicks. McGrath was the player that charged down Hogg's kick that led to Ringrose's try and did some handy work cover in the backfield as well.
10. Jonathan Sexton - 6.5
Topped the running metres in the first half but missed his first two kicks at goal but slotted his second two. Controlled the game well but had a few moments he will want to forget including a few misjudgments on defence and one or two handling errors.
11. James Lowe - 7
Tons of energy in all facets of the game, he stretched the Glasgow defence to make 69 running metres, defended well and enjoyed a good overall game.
12. Robbie Henshaw - 7.5
Excellent over the ball and solid on defence, Henshaw played a crucial role in Leinster's win with some superb defence making 15 tackles and forced three turnovers.
13. Garry Ringrose - 9
Did well to pounce on the ball after Luke McGrath's charge down to score and was emmense on defence in the first half, particularlly on Seymour when Glasgow looked certain to score. Followed that up with a great spot tackle and turnover to sprint into Glasgow's half to link up with Lowe which eventually lead to Kyle Steyn's yellow card.
Heavily involved in the second half and made more clean breaks than any other player.
14. Jordan Larmour - 7
Had a few promising breaks down the touchline and was impressive on the scramble defence.
15. Rob Kearney -6.5
Assured as ever at the back and had two lovely offloads and ran some nice lines form the back as well as a few nice interventions on defence. Lucky to avoid a red card after he took airborne Stuart Hogg out.
