PLAYER RATINGS: Australia 17-25 England

England held firm to defeat Australia 25-17 on Saturday.

Eddie Jones' charges snapped a three-game losing run and levelled the three test match Series in Australia with the decider in Sydney next week.

In the series opener last week, England let a commanding lead slip and fell to a 30-28 defeat but they responded in Brisbane with a resilient and aggressive display.

England took a 19-7 lead into half-time at Suncorp Stadium. Billy Vunipola dotted down inside the first five minutes with Owen Farrell added the successful conversion and four penalties.

Australia gave themselves hope just before the interval when Taniela Tupou powered over but also spent 10 minutes of the first half with 14 men as Izaia Perese went to the sin bin for a deliberate knock-on.

Farrell slotted an early penalty in the second half which gave England breathing space.

Australia would hit back through Samu Kerevi, who strolled in after a big carry from Taniela Tupou.

Noah Lolesio's penalty after Marcus Smith was sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on made things even more interesting in the latter stages but three more points from the boot of Farrell put the game out of Australia's reach.
