Mumm to Tahs: Australian Super Rugby outfit the New South Wales Waratahs have today confirmed that second row forward Dean Mumm will return to the club in time for the 2016 domestic season. Mumm, who has spent the last three years in England with the Exeter Chiefs in the Aviva Premiership, previously spent 8 years at the Sydney based outfit, amassing 83 Super Rugby caps to his name in the process. During his time with the Waratahs, Mumm also broke into the Wallabies setup and earned himself 33 international caps, having made his debut against ireland in 2008. During his time in England with Devon-based outfit the Chiefs, Mumm has played on nearly 50 occasions and has been the club captain for the past two seasons. New Zealand born Mumm will return to Australia and the Waratahs in plenty of time for the beginning of Super Rugby 2016.
Savea out: Hurricanes fans and coaching staff alike are being greeted by some troubling news today, after it emerged that back row forward Ardie Savea will be out of action for the coming month due to injury. Savea, who has been impressive in the Hurricanes’ opening run of victories in this year’s Super Rugby competition, has split his finger and has already undergone a minor procedure to repair the damage. After the joint popped out during Friday’s 20-13 victory over the Highlanders in Dunedin, head coach Chris Boyd has since confirmed that Savea, the younger brother of All Black winger Julian, will be out of the game for an approximate four weeks.
