Looking ahead to Round 3's action in the Pro D2

Round 3 of the Pro D2 kicks off this evening with Grenoble taking on Agen on the former’s home turf. The lacklustre Agen are in a terrible slump at present and, once again, found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard last week as they fell to Beziers, 12-9.

After a less than ideal start in Round 1, Grenoble took the fight to Vannes in Round 2 and emerged victorious by 38-33. They will fancy their chances against Agen this evening.

Nevers take on Oyonnax at Stade du Pre Fleuri on Friday and the both sides will be looking to make amends for Round 2 where Nevers went down to Provence (26-23) and Oyonnax just couldn’t produce the goods against Colomiers in a close affair (23-21).

Bourg-en-Bresse face a stiff challenge this round as they clash with a rampant Rouen outfit. Bourg-en-Bresse were soundly thumped 48-13 by Mont-de-Marsan last week while Rouen rolled up their sleeves and busied themselves against Narbonne, posting a final score of 57-16. All things considered, it will be a long night for Bourg-en-Bresse.

After their narrow victory in Round 2, Colomiers find themselves unbeaten as they lie in wait for the challenge of Aurillac at Stade Michel Bendichou. Aurillac were out-played by Bayonne 28-20 after narrowly missing out to Beziers in Round 1. They will thus be eager to post their first victory of the campaign although Colomiers are sure to prove quite a challenge as they ride a wave of confidence after their two victories.

Beziers will be looking for an improved performance when they host Provence. The former will have noted significant room for improvement from last week’s 3-point win over Agen while Provence triumphed over Nevers, 26-23.

The round will conclude at Stade de la Rabine where Vannes will host Bayonne. The home side will be smarting after last week’s loss to Grenoble while Bayonne will be looking to carry their winning momentum into this week after their victory over Aurillac.

As things stand, Mont-de-Marsan and Bayonne occupy the top spots on the overall log with a total of 9 points each.
