Leinster vs La Rochelle: The Top Performers

The fixture between last seasons finalists Leinster and La Rochelle, was more reminiscent of a one sided drubbing than it was a test match level fixture between two franchise rivals. The French outfit had no answers to the rampant attack and could not penetrate the Irish sides defence, resulting in a 40-13 demolition at the Aviva stadium.

A quick look at some of the matches standout players will give us context over and deeper understanding of today's match. Join us as we bring you three of the best players from tonight's Champions Cup quarter-final fixture.

Ross Byrne

Our man of the matcha, the Champions Cup man of the match and definitely who should be your man of the match. Nothing short of excellent, Leinsters fly-half completed 34 passes that created a mass amount of try scoring oppurtunities. With one carry, Byrne gained 5 metres of ground, while remaining resolute in defence making 7 tackles to complete a man of the match performance.

Jamison Gibson-Park

Gibson-Park continues to show why he is in the conversation for the worlds best scrum-half. After winning the man of the match award last week against Leicester, the Irish first choice number 9 distributed like a logistics company completing a staggering 72 passes. With 6 carries, Gibson-Park beat 1 defender all while gaining 46 metres, making 1 tackle and forcing 1 turn over.

Gregory Alldritt

France's first choice eighthman continues to be a pillar on the team with his game impacting performances. His 11 tackles on defense helped keep the constant wave of Leinster attacks at bay, while his 13 carries saw him finish with the most on the day. 13 carries were converted to 46 metres of ground gained, along with 6 passes and 1 offload.
