July Tests: How each nation fared - SCO
- 676
With the summer tours finally over after the end of Scotland’s marathon season last weekend, we look back at how the EPCR nations fared in their various Tests around the globe.
Scotland’s clean sweep
Scotland were the one Six Nations side to win all their summer Tests, although the opposition weren’t as taxing as their rivals’, with Gregor Townsend’s squad notching victories over Canada (73-12), USA (42-7), Chile (52-11) and Uruguay (31-19).
Only against Uruguay were they really tested and Duhan van der Merwe came up trumps yet again for Scotland with his 28th try for his country to become their record try-scorer.
A particularly encouraging aspect of the trip was that the 37-man squad included 10 uncapped players, so Townsend was able to widen his pool of internationals in anticipation of stiffer tasks ahead.
