Ireland
1. Cian Healy – 7/10
Very solid at scrum time. He got through an impressive amount of work at the breakdown. Also carried dynamically throughout, consistently getting over the gain line.
2. Rory Best – 7/10
Accurate at the lineout which consistently provided Ireland with a great attacking platform. Dogged in defence, both in the loose and at the breakdown.
3. Tadhg Furlong – 7/10
Very solid at scrum time. He consistently hit rucks and made his tackles and continuously managed get over the gainline when carrying with ball in hand.
4. James Ryan – 7/10
A couple of handling errors early on but he quickly established his presence in the game with countless effective carries and a really high work rate. Masterful at the lineout, both offensively and defensively.
5. Devin Toner – 7/10
Excellent option at the lineout both offensively and defensively. We saw more evidence of the improvements in his ball carrying ability today; carrying
6. Peter O’Mahony – 7/10
Defensively solid as always. Impressive in attack at times, ran some good attacking lines and got through some good work at the breakdown.
7. Dan Leavy – 7/10
Question marks over some of his decision making in defence but solid for the most part. Very effective with ball in hand and showed great body position at the breakdown.
8. CJ Stander – 7/10
Relatively quiet but still very solid afternoon from the South African. Carried effectively when required but failed to get on the ball as much as he would have liked.
9. Conor Murray – 8/10
Another classy performance from the Munster scrum-half. Marshalled his backline very well and varied the tempo of the Irish attack with aplomb. A couple of uncharacteristically wayward box kicks.
10. Jonathan Sexton – 8/10
Impressive performance from the talisman. Posed a constant threat with ball in hand, both running directly and when moving the ball through the hands. Recorded a 80% success rate from the tee.
11. Jacob Stockdale – 8/10
Another try scoring masterclass from the young Ulsterman who scored his 5th and 6th tries of the championship. Showed great awareness to intercept a loose George Horne pass for his first and showed great footwork to step inside for his second.
12. Bundee Aki – 6/10
Relatively quiet game from the inside centre. Failed to make any real impact when running with ball in hand and made some poor decisions. Solid defensive shift however.
13. Garry Ringrose – 9/10
The standout performer in his first appearance in this year’s Six Nations. Posed a constant threat with ball in hand and caused the Scottish defence a host of problems throughout.
14. Keith Earls – 7/10
Very solid afternoon’s work from Earls this weekend. Not as much flair in attack as we have seen in previous game rounds but still managed to consistently get over the gainline.
15. Rob Kearney – 8/10
Much better from the Irish full back this weekend. Attacked the line well and dominated the aerial battles. Chose not to pass on a couple of occasions, denying his teammates good attacking opportunities but a very impressive performance overall.
Scotland
1. Gordon Reid – 6/10
Pretty quiet afternoon for the loosehead. Solid at scrum time and dogged in defence but failed to get his hands on the ball often enough.
2. Stuart McInally – 7/10
A touch sloppy at the lineout at times. Rock solid in defence, making 18 tackles and winning a crucial turnover.
3. Simon Berghan – 5/10
Locked out the scrum well but failed to make any real impression around the park defensively or offensively.
4. Grant Gilchrist – 6/10
Solid afternoon from the second row. Part of a mostly functional lineout and showed a really high defensive work rate. Failed to carry effectively enough.
5. Jonny Gray – 7/10
Again, Gray was stand out performer in the Scotland forward pack. He defended exceptionally well, making a staggering 23 tackles but failed to carry often enough.
6. John Barclay – 6/10
Defended as doggedly as Gray but he too failed to make any real attacking impact on the game. Good work rate at the breakdown.
7. Hamish Watson – 7/10
Another one of the big performers in the Scotland pack. Looked to get on the ball often, but was relatively ineffective going forward. Defended resolutely, making 15 tackles and missing none.
8. Ryan Wilson – N/A
Forced off after 17 minutes with a head injury.
9. Greig Laidlaw – 6/10
Solid afternoon from the veteran but a little slow to the ball at times disrupting the flow of the Scottish attack. Slotted 1 of his 2 attempts.
10. Finn Russell – 6/10
A mixed afternoon from the outhalf. Showed some flashes of attacking brilliance but as is often the case, his decision making in key areas of the pitch was questionable at times.
11. Sean Maitland – 7/10
One of the better performers in the Scottish backline. Solid under the high ball and hard working in defence. Starved of any real opportunity to attack.
12. Peter Horne – 6/10
A quiet afternoon for Horne who was solid defensively but poor in attack. He made one impressive clean break but threw a couple of loose passes including the pass which Jacob Stockdale intercepted for his first try.
13. Huw Jones – 6/10
After a brilliant performance in the last round, Jones failed to replicate the highs seen in Murrayfield. With all eyes on the 13 jersey battle between himself and Ringrose, the Scot was comprehensively beaten.
14. Blair Kinghorn - 8/10
Seamlessly made the step up to starting in a Six Nations game and put in a very impressive performance. He always looked dangerous with ball in hand, making a couple of breaks for a total gain of 67 metres.
15. Stuart Hogg - 8/10
Hogg had yet another game full of attacking flair and incredible skill. He looked very dangerous with ball in hand, beating several defenders and gaining a total of 120 metres. His incredible boot was on display throughout as he consistently pinged Ireland back inside their own half.
