Hewat and Deacon to depart Tigers

Leicester Tigers can confirm that Peter Hewat and Brett Deacon will leave the club at the end of the current campaign.
Both Hewat and Deacon are valued members of the Leicester Tigers community and they - along with their families - will always be welcome at the club.
Hewat joined Tigers as attack coach in June 2024 from Blackrams Tokyo, whilst Deacon made 135 appearances for the club in his playing days. Since retiring, Deacon has coached multiple areas, including lineout, defence and breakdown. Both have also led the coaching group in PREM Cup games.
Head Coach Geoff Parling commented on the departures.
“Deacs has done a great job this season, firstly looking after our contact and then taking over the defence portfolio. After two stints at the club as a player he moved into coaching and has been a consistent presence since 2013, helping drive the Tigers ethos with commitment to making players better.”
“We understand his desire to experience somewhere new and be a forward’s coach and wish him, Ellie, William, Freddie, and Charlie the best with the move.”
“Hewy, Alicia and their four boys Coops, Chase, Josh, and Kai have invested fully into the club and life in England and the boys are ever present in the changing room post-game.”
“Hewy has built great relationships with players, helped open up our attack, and has brought experience from Super Rugby and Japan, and we hope the transition back to life in Australia is a smooth and successful one.”
“Both are characters that are fully committed to the end of the season and we’ll announce some coaching appointments shortly.”
