George Ford reaction: 'It's huge for us'

Sale Sharks, qualified for the quarter-final for just the second time in the club’s history, were delighted with the win.

Captain and experienced leader who’s steady kicking earned him Investec Player of the Match, George Ford spoke after the game:

“It’s huge for us”, he said.

“This was a tough win, we’re delighted to get the win, but we’re really excited about next week”.

Next up, Sale face either Leinster or Edinburgh, with their fate being sealed tomorrow.

Ford went on to say:

“Our start was massive.”

“We were into the wind a bit and we wanted to build a score up and exert a bit of pressure.”

“We had a few up and downs in that second half, but we found a way to win.”

Shark attack in the capital thanks to Cowan-Dickie double

Sale Sharks become the next side safely through to the quarters as they impress away from home.

The scores became more free-flowing after the restart. Chandler Cunningham-South went over before Cowan-Dickie confirmed his brace.

Quins’ captain Alex Dombrandt led by example shortly after though as the hosts were trying to carve their way back into it.

The skipper joined Cowan-Dickie on two just over 10 minutes from time as the hosts threatened late on.

But the Sharks successfully defended their waters  and held on to their lead.

They’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out who they face next week though as either Leinster or Edinburgh away.

Steady-boot Ford lays bedrock for Sale lead

George Ford’s three penalties and one conversion, together with Luke Cowan-Dickie’s try mean Sale head into the break 0-19 up.

Despite a 20-minute deadlock at the start of the affair, it’s been the Mancunians who have dominated proceedings, including line breaks, metres made and defenders beaten.

It took 33 minutes for the first score to come, with England front rower Cowan-Dickie bundling over a driving maul.
